Please read below! (y)PLEASE READ! The developing situation regarding COVID-19 has created uncertainty and concern in our community. We would like to update you on the proactive approach that Opposite Lock Townsville is implementing to mitigate the impact of the virus within our business in the days and months ahead.
We are prioritising the health and safety of our clients, team members and supply chain partners. We have framed our operating arrangements around these priorities. We look to and heed the advice of the medical professionals and Government bodies, with a view to managing these risks appropriately.
From a business operations point of view, we plan to continue to operate our showroom and workshop as normal for the foreseeable future. We are developing contingency plan scenarios for our business operations in the event the Government takes further steps in managing the virus spread (such as possible future shop closures). These plans will minimise disruption to our operations.
For clients with current orders with us, we are not currently anticipating delays to the completion of your vehicles. Generally, all our team members are able to work observing the ‘social distancing’ recommended by the authorities. From here, our supply chain partners locally and abroad are working hard to ensure there is little to no disruption to the availability of our accessories and parts. Should we encounter any shortages we will manage these on a case-by- case basis, in consultation with you if required. Overall, we anticipate business to continue as usual.
We are proactively initiating ‘social distancing’ recommendations through our showroom and workshop site, and have asked our team members to exercise good ‘social distancing’ practices both at work and after hours. This includes cleaning all vehicle keys, steering wheels, door handles etc. with anti-bacterial products. We request that anyone planning to visit our showroom including clients to observe the directive signs in store. We further request that anyone who is feeling unwell to reschedule any ‘in store’ meetings or conduct them digitally (via email or Facebook Messenger) instead. If you have visited us in person and become unwell or are diagnosed with COVID-19 we ask you contact us immediately so we can take steps to ensure the wellbeing of our team and prevent any further spread.
You can take comfort that Opposite Lock are proactively managing our business arrangements through these challenging times. We will continue to monitor the situation, continue to follow the advice of the experts, and commit to keeping you informed should any developments impact your current or future orders. ... NEWCASTLE 500 Race Kade has completed the final round of the Toyota 86 racing series over the weekend at the Newcastle 500. The Newcastle track is a very tight street circuit, with plenty of cars making contact with the walls. Kade completed the final race for the weekend in 19th position. This brought his series standings to 26th Overall for this year out of 56 drivers. Great achievement for his first year. We are extremely proud of Kades efforts this year, as he really was thrown in at the deep end. With no real prior racing experience, he joined one of the most competitive circuit racing classes in the country at a National level. This series is a large field of cars, usually 34- 40 cars and the lap times are very close and there is usually less than 3 seconds difference from the front of the pack to the rear. Kade has managed to consistently improve his times and keep up with the pace. Within the Toyota 86 racing series, the fellow competitors and organisers are a great bunch of people who are always willing to share information. Kade has benefited from mentoring with experienced drivers such as Paul Morris, Jason Bargwanna, Steve Owen and Robbo "The 86 Whisperer" Kade is looking forward to getting more seat time in the car next year and hopefully the new Townsville Precinct, which has been years in the planning by DriveIt NQ will be just the place for it. We are excited about next years racing in the 86 and some big changes that are coming. The Toyota 86 has proven to be an awesome car with great handling, not just to race but for street use also. Go test drive one today, you'll love it. Special thanks this year to our sponsors RJ panel & paint, Revolution Racegear; Power Torque Engines; Opposite Lock 4X4 Townsville; Townsville Gearbox Reconditioning. Kade Crawford Racing
Yes good on you Kade that last race at Newcastle, you made up a couple of places yay OK some of some of the other drivers crashed? But you still passed them-next year you'll do better as you know more about the tracks you're racing on. Which was your favourite track this year?

Kadco Race Team Update: Yesterday's practice sessions went well with a mixed bag of rain and sunshine. Track was mostly wet. Qualifying saw some collisions which resulted in lap times being recorded under red flag conditions. This meant that Kade's fastest time of 1.30.1 was not recorded. Kade started today for race one in pos 30 on the grid. He quickly made his way up to 24th position and maintained this for most of the race. Two missed gear changes on the second last lap resulted in some lost places. Track was reasonably dry and Kade reported the car felt good. The weather here in Melbourne is ever changing, it was jumpers on, jumpers off all day yesterday and today is turning out to be just as unpredictable. Saturdays, race 2 saw Kade getting more familiar with the track and reducing his lap times. Some minor damage to the front left again but easily sorted ready for Sundays final Race. After carefully analysing the race computer data and data from other cars, it was found that the engine has some issues resulting in reduced power output.
Only 10 days till the start of the Bathurst 1000 but who's counting!! The Kadco Revolution Racegear team head south late this week with our Toyota 86 race car for the big event.
With no designated race track in Townsville, getting quality practice time for our driver, Kade Crawford, can be challenging. Kade will spend a day at Paul Morris's Racing Academy enroute to Bathurst for some refining of his skills with expert trainer Robbo "the 86 whisperer".

RACE RESULTS Congratulations Kade Crawford on a great drive in the Townsville 400 event over the weekend. Qualifying began first thing on Saturday morning, the car was handling well until a couple of laps in when the steering column fell into Kades lap at 140klm/hr which meant an unplanned trip into pit lane. Repairs were completed but with no time left to put in a good qualifying run he was at the back of the field for race 1. Race 2 saw some position shuffling and a close touch with some tyre barriers at one point wiping out the side mirror and some minor damage to the passengers side. The crew managed to tidy up some of the damage and replace the mirror all ready to start race 3 on Sunday. The rain held out just long enough on Sunday for the 86's to finish in dry conditions. Kade finished in 25th position out of 33 cars overall for the weekend. The team at RJ panel & paint will be pleased to see that there is minimal damage this time to the vehicle. Next stop is Bathurst in October.
Racing update A field of 33 cars lined up today as practice commenced at the Watpac Townsville 400. Intermittent drizzle meant the morning and lunch practice sessions were on a wet track. Despite the weather, Kade reported the car felt good other than a fuel supply issue at certain areas of the track. The team spent the afternoon replacing one of the fuel pumps. The car is now ready to go for tomorrow's qualifying bright and early. THE RACE IS ON!!! Only 19 days to go till the 2nd Round of the Australian Toyota 86 racing series in Townsville and so much to do. Our Toyota 86 entry is back at the workshop after a mammoth effort by the team at RJ panel & paint. The car suffered major panel damage at the Phillip Island event and was pretty much a write off but the guys at RJ panel & paint got it back into shape and now sporting a bright Ducati Blue. Its all hands on deck to have it ready in time. Thanks to Andrew's Mobile Windscreens for their speedy re installation of the rear windows. The car heads off to Queensland Signage Solutions for some signwriting later this week to finalise its physical transformation. Then we will give it the final race preparation including full wheel alignment and suspension set up for the Townsville Track and a run on the dyno to make sure it's running to spec. All done here in house. If you have a vehicle that you thought wasnt repairable, see the skilled guys at RJ panel & paint, they've definitely pulled out all the stops on this one. Kadco Offroad proudly supports DriveIt North Queensland. DriveIt has done an amazing job designing, planning and securing funding for a major motorsport facility for Townsville.
